August, 2013 Recap

Every August we participate in Relay for Life one way or another.  This year, I wasn't on the team but Tessa did walk the kids lap in memory of Papa Jerry and in Honor of Grandma, Aunt Ruth and Uncle BullDog.  She likes participating, and it is always fun being with family.

We also went to Chicago in August for a day trip to see Doc McStuffins.  Her mobile clinic was at Navy Pier, and there were a TON of people there.  The advertisement told the kids to bring a toy to use and give a check-up to.  We were a little disappointed that Doc wasn't there herself, but we had fun anyway.

August was also full of parades and town festivals.  We made it to two big parades, and I think we still have the candy from them.  Tessa enjoys parades except for the firetrucks and tall corn (people on stilts dressed up like corn).  She was pretty timid about going after the candy, but that didn't stop her from bringing in a pretty good haul at both of the parades.  :)

Tessa also started taking dance lessons in August.  She is taking a class on Wednesday nights at Main Street Dance Academy in Princeton.  Her class lasts for 45 minutes and she is being introduced to tap, ballet, and tumbling. She loves it!  She also started preschool this year at DePue Schools where I teach.  She goes to morning preschool, and then in the afternoon she goes to a daycare in town.  She really enjoys the class and loves Ms. Funfsinn, her teacher.
